Long before color film became available, Torgeir took a series of black and white photos of his beloved Svanøen, during a period from about 1939 to 1945. He then proceeded to color each photo with artist's crayons.
The resulting pictures are truly works of art, and no one who looks at them will believe they are not color photos.
Torgeir was understandably guarding this album very carefully, and you had to come to his house to see them. Over the course of the last couple of summer visits, Tommy and his sister Grethe were able to convince him that not only does this life-work of his photography hobby deserve a wider audience, but it should also be electronically preserved.
This is the first part of Torgeirs photo album.
It is split into 3 parts and the Svanoe website will bring you the whole series.
Enjoy the first 12 pictures for now, the rest will come soon.
